UK In Political Crisis: Boris Johnson Finally Steps Down As Prime Minister

The world just sat up a little straighter with UK?s Prime Minister Boris Johnson resigning from his post a little while ago. Earlier today, he confirmed his resignation after several days of defections had crippled the Conservative party leader, leaving him unable to administer and govern.
UK?s former Prime Minister confirmed his resignation outside 10 Downing Street and mentioned, ?’no one is remotely indispensable.? He also added how it was a sad fact that he was
?leaving the best job in the world.?

It was only after Johnson?s closest ally, Treasury Chief Nadhim Zahawi, requested him to do so for the good of the United Kingdom. In fact, Nadhim Zahawi wrote a letter to Johnson which said,
?Prime Minister: this is not sustainable and it will only get worse: for you, for the Conservative Party and most importantly of all the country?You must do the right thing and go now.?
The friendly(?) intervention of Nadhim Zahawi came in once two members of Johnson?s Cabinet simply resigned, accompanied by three other junior officials, which further increased the number of people leaving the government to 50.
On Wednesday, Johnson rejected all calls of resignation. His argument? That he still had the support of his voters to remain in office, but things changed today for the man who has been so lucky when it comes to getting out of political controversies. The clearly disappointed former PM said in this context,

?I know that there will be many people who are relieved and perhaps quite a few who also are disappointed. However, I wanted you to know how sad I am to be giving up the best job in the world,” Johson said.?
